Trying to get into contact with Umbro
Trying to contact Brands / Collaborations -
As part of my primary research I have tried to get into contact with certain people and connections, I have tried to get into contact through social media platforms and emails. As part of my research I have gone and looked at some collaborations so I have also tried to get into contact with these people as well.
The first person I tried to contact was Umbros social media account on instagram, this is something that I personally use the most. I contacted them stating who I was and why I was trying to contact them, they quickly got back to me giving me an email address to contact, this was unexpected as they replied within under 20 minutes. I then proceeded to email the address they gave me and they still haven't got back to me yet, so I'm still waiting on their reply so I can proceed onto my questions. The questions I wanted to ask were:
1. Who do you think your online and in-store competitors are?
2. What was your most successful collaboration?
3. Do you think that your social media is successful in comparison to other competitors?
4. Have you got any new ideas for the brand, if you are allowed to announce them?
5. Do you wish that you were more of a fashion brand or a sportswear/performance brand?
These were quite risky questions as they are quite personal to the brand which may have caused restrictions as they might not be able to answer these questions. But I would never know if I wasn't able to ask these, I'm still waiting on a reply for this email but once I do I will ask these questions and see if they are allowed to answer these questions for me. I have also emailed other brands, the ones I decided to focus on were the Pepsi collaboration and house of holland collaboration. I emailed them both we saying "I am currently studying Fashion Management and Communication at Sheffield Hallam University. I have been commissioned to produce a Brand Marketing Report on a chosen brand. My chosen brand is Umbro and I know that ... have done a collaboration with them and I am just wondering if I could ask a few questions about this collaboration if that's possible.

This was an email that I felt was acceptable as this is something that wasn't too personal and dive straight in with some questions. Umbro Customer care got back to me and said that they would find someone to deal with my enquiry but unfortunatly they haven't got back to me just yet. Hopefully they do and so does the House of Holland one which would be useful for my research, and if they could answer my questions that would be better.
