Creating an undercover team who goes trying to find out who is exploiting their brand and business and the statistic of £11m in 6 years, that's on average of 1,833,333 per year. I think when counterfeit goods are sold on market stalls and sold on the street, this is something that is illegal and is a criminal offence to sell and use a trademark without the permission of its owner. The fact that in the article it states that it takes "several minutes" to get in contact with the trader of counterfeit means that there are many people trying to buy into fake shirts ready to sell them on. I think that it has only taken so many minutes to do so as there is such a big competition to try and buy into products first, but using fake counterfeiters is a good thing because one person was caught but they can't catch all of these this way because there is too many of them as stated by saying "one small victory". Counterfeit goods are fake items of clothing or footwear etc. made to look real and genuine. Counterfeit goods sales are increasing even though the law is still very much going on and applicable. They have now transferred to being online and spotting the differences between genuine and counterfeit is becoming increasingly difficult. The fact its easy now to get in contact with the people who make counterfeit goods is a lot better for brands such as Umbro to track them down and stop them.

The fact that Umbro as a brand know that their biggest downfall is the amount of counterfeit issues they have and have now used this to their advantage by saying to fans who have gone and bought the fake Peru Kit that they can have 50% off if they hand one in. This works to their benefit because they are taking the fake kits of fans in exchange for a cheaper official kit and selling their official kit.
